Meeting Robert Caro

 I chatted with Robert Caro, the Pulitzer-winning biographer, at yesterday’s East Hampton Authors Night and said how much I enjoyed his memoir which mentions his time at Newsday. A few years ago, we talked about how we both worked with the legendary Newsday editor Bob Greene at different times. I still remember reading and marveling at Caro’s The Power Broker in the 1970s and his subsequent LBJ biographies. Caro is a tremendous inspiration for those of us who write nonfiction investigative books. It’s always nice to see your heroes.
